Event narrative

The southern half of the zone started out in Extreme(D3) drought with the north in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of the month, the north was in Severe(D2) drought with Abnormally Dry(D0) conditions south. The Cloudcroft Cooperative Observer reported 7.05 inches of precipitation which was 1.52 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Near to above average rainfall helped to improve drought conditions over most of southern New Mexico, especially closer to the Texas border region and the Sacramento Mountains.
