Event narrative

The month started out with Extreme(D3) drought conditions over the south and Severe(D2) drought over the north. At the end of July, the north remained in Severe(D2) drought with Moderate(D1) drought conditions over the south.

Wider weather episode

Near to above average rainfall helped to improve drought conditions over most of southern New Mexico, especially closer to the Texas border region and the Sacramento Mountains.
