Event narrative

Interstate 37 closed due to flooding between Mathis and Edroy. Several roads closed in the communities of Mathis, Odem, and Sinton. SH 359 underpass in Mathis closed due to flooding.

Wider weather episode

The multi-day heavy rain event across the Coastal Bend continued on the 8th as the low pressure system remained nearly stationary. Bands of showers and thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall that caused flash flooding over much of San Patricio and Nueces mainly during the morning. Four day total rainfall amounts ranged from 10 to 15 inches from Nueces County northward to Victoria with a maximum amount of 18 inches near Rockport.
