Event narrative
The month started with Severe(D2) drought over the northern half of the zone with Moderate(D1) drought across the south. On August 3rd, the north was placed into Abnormally Dry(D0) drought conditions and no drought across the south. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer reported 4.15 inches of precipitation which was .61 inches above normal.
Wider weather episode
Several months of above normal precipitation in the Sacramento Mountains improved drought conditions early in the month to Abnormally Dry(D0) drought or no drought conditions.
