Event narrative

The Rio Penasco River came out of it's banks from just east of Mayhill into Chaves County with widespread flooding across the area.

Wider weather episode

A continued very moist pattern remained across the Borderland and brought a third day of heavy rain to the La Union area which over the course of 3 days received over 7 inches of rainfall. In addition, flash flooding was reported near White Sands Missile Range and the Mayhill area.
