The western half of the zone remained in Severe(D2) drought while the east remained in Moderate(D1) drought. The Truth or Consequences Airport had no precipitation through the month of August which was 0.73 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Even though September was a generally dry month, there was no change to drought conditions compared to the end of August.
