Event narrative

A trained spotter located near Valentine measured 11.5 inches of snowfall. Snowfall amounts from 8 to 12 inches occurred across the northern half of eastern Cherry County. Winds were northeasterly at 10 to 15 mph, which limited blowing and drifting.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm brought heavy snow to portions of north central Nebraska on December 10th, 2021. Snow began during the evening hours on December 9th, and continued during the morning and afternoon hours, and ended by mid evening. The heaviest snowfall fell across the northern half of Sheridan and Cherry Counties, where snowfall amounts from 8 to nearly 12 inches fell.
