Avalanche started on the south side of Granite mountain by skiers around 5300 feet. They were carried down to about 2300 feet. One survived, one found dead the next morning.
At Cortright Creek Trailhead, Packwood, a hunter was in his tent when the top of an old growth snapped due to the high winds and fell onto the tent from approximately 100 feet high. The tree top struck the tent, hitting the hunter directly in the head causing fatal injury.

Snowboarders triggered a slide outside of Alpental Ski area. One killed.
Outside of the Stevens Pass ski area, a skier triggered an avalanche which killed 3.
A 20 year old snow boarder was killed in an avalanche near Stevens Pass.
A local skier was killed when a cornice collapsed at Snoqualmie Pass.
A climber was killed by an avalanche in a steep confined gully in the central Cascades.
A man who intended to spend only the day hiking on the slopes of Mount Rainier, died after being caught in winter-like weather. The man was unconscious when they found him and died after they brought him back to shelter at Camp Muir.
A man died in an avalanche while hiking near Mount Rainier.
Two hikers were killed, and one injured, by an avalanche near Snoqualmie Pass.
Three snowboarders were presumed dead near Crystal Mountain. They were found in mid June 2008 in their sleeping bags once the snow had melted enough. It is presumed they were buried in an avalanche during the night of Dec 1 or early morning of Dec 2.
A woman died while snowshoeing north of Alpental ski area, near Snoqualmie Pass.
As many as 60 cars and trucks were involved in a pile up west of Snoqualmie pass. Seven people were hurt, 4 seriously. The pass was closed for about 6 hours.
All roads out of Morton, Hwy 12, SR 7 and SR 508 were all closed due to mudslides. The Roadside Inn Tavern, between Glenoma and Randle, had about 4 feet of mud and debris inside. Several homes in Morton were hit by mudslides. Several roads and 2 bridges were damaged.
