A tree fell onto a home injuring one person near the intersection of Alabama Avenue and East 6th Street.
Several trees were uprooted and power lines were downed by thunderstorm winds in the Locust Shores community. Along the 500 block of Locust Road, a large oak tree fell onto a mobile home, killing a female resident who was sleeping.
Two men were working outside of the Colbert Steam Plant, when they were struck. One man was revived and transported to the hospital in critical condition before passing away. The other man was admitted and released from the hospital.
Strong gradient winds caused a large tree limb to fall 70 feet onto a truck carrying two people (including the driver) and traveling along 6th Street in Tuscumbia on May 11th at 10 am. Tragically, Daryl Sizemore was killed and his brother were injured when this occured.
Northwest wind gusting to 30 miles an hour caused dangerous waves on Pickwick Lake in extreme western Colbert County. One fishing boat sank with three occupants aboard. A 43 year old man drowned when he could not swim to shore. A Wind Advisory was in effect for northern Alabama.

Sustained gradient winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 40 and 50 mph occurred across much of the county. Some trees brought power lines and trees, which caused power outages to occur.
The remnants of Hurricane Ivan produced extensive wind damage as over 500 trees were blown down across north Alabama. A few trees were blown down onto homes with damage occurring due to the trees falling. Many power lines were blown down due to the high winds.
