In the community of Pico Rivera, a woman was struck and killed by a bolt of lightning.
An isolated thunderstorm moved across the Venice Beach area along the Los Angeles county coast. Lightning struck the water, injuring 13 people and killing one person.
Gusty north winds generated dangerous rip currents off the coast of Malibu. The rip currents capsized a kayak. One kayaker died and another was injured.
