In the Antelope Valley, strong winds gusting to 50 mph knocked down a tree onto a vehicle traveling along Avenue K in the city of Lancaster. A six foot branch smashed through the windshield, instantly killing the female driver. A 16 year-old passenger sustained moderate injuries.

Strong westerly winds, gusting to 45 mph, produced a dust storm in the community of Palmdale. The blowing dust reduced visibilities to near zero miles and caused a 12 car pileup near the intersection of Avenue P and 15th Street. Only one minor injury was reported.
