Wider weather episode
The cold air to begin the new year lingered over the Northland for a second night. The area of high pressure was more overhead this night, so temperatures were a bit colder with widespread -30F readings. Winds were lighter than the previous night which helped limit the area of extreme wind chills, but a few readings in the 40s and 50s below zero were recorded with a minimum wind chill report of -52F near Cass Lake.
