The entire zone remained in Severe(D2) drought through January. The Cooperative Observer at Buckhorn reported 0.62 inches of precipitation which was 0.57 inches below normal.

Another month where all sites reported below normal precipitation kept southwest New Mexico in Severe(D2) to Extreme(D3) drought.
