Strong thunderstorms resulted in an extended period of strong wind gusts over the Kenosha lakeshore waters, as measured by the Kenosha lighthouse wind equipment. Frequent wind gusts of 34 to 38 knots occurred for over 1 hour, with peak gusts of 45 to 46 knots.

A line of strong thunderstorms moved across the Lake Michigan shore, nearshore and open waters of Lake Michigan during the late evening of March 5th, producing strong, damaging winds.
