A storm system tracked from the northern Rockies to the central Plains, producing snow from the Black Hills area into south central South Dakota. Precipitation started as some light freezing rain or freezing drizzle in some areas, especially toward south central South Dakota. The highest amounts of snow fell across southwestern South Dakota, where three to around six inches of snow were reported, with mostly two or three inches elsewhere. Brisk winds produced some blowing and especially drifting snow on the plains.
