Event narrative

Light freezing rain occurred across portions of Allendale County. The county dispatch center reported light icing in trees and on some raised surface at the 911 center in Allendale. Also, South Carolina Highway Patrol reported icy conditions on the roadway at Highway 278 and McMillan Memorial Road.

Wider weather episode

With a cold front positioned offshore, upper-level forcing helped produce light precipitation across southeast South Carolina in the early morning hours. The low-level airmass was cold and below freezing with warm air observed aloft, leading to reports mixed wintry precipitation. Though most of the precipitation fell as freezing rain or freezing drizzle, some sleet and snow did occur as well.
