Event narrative

Numerous reports of freezing rain were received across Berkeley County. The highest ice accumulations include 0.10 near Huger, 0.15 near Goose Creek, 0.03 near Ladson, 0.10 near Moncks Corner, 0.19 near Jamestown, and 0.10 near Sangaree. A few roads were closed due to icy conditions including North Marin Street at the Interstate 26 overpass.

Wider weather episode

With a cold front positioned offshore, upper-level forcing helped produce light precipitation across southeast South Carolina in the early morning hours. The low-level airmass was cold and below freezing with warm air observed aloft, leading to reports mixed wintry precipitation. Though most of the precipitation fell as freezing rain or freezing drizzle, some sleet and snow did occur as well.
