Wider weather episode
An anomalously moist environment that promoted adequate instability, combined with a low level jet stream from the southwest to produce two lines of thunderstorms across central Indiana from late evening on March 5th through dawn on March 6th. The second line strengthened along and north of Interstate 70 where it produced embedded strong to severe storms. Damage was most severe in southwestern Madison County.
