Snowfall totals adjacent to Lake Superior in southern Lake County were in the 3 to 6 inch range with a few reports over 6 inches near the Lake/Cook border. The highest report was 6.8 inches 3 miles north-northeast of Finland.
Wider weather episode
An area of low pressure moved across northern Minnesota on the 18th and lifted a warm front across the Minnesota Arrowhead during the morning hours. Southerly winds off Lake Superior led to lake and terrain-enhanced snowfall along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Snowfall totals of 6 to 9 inches were reported within about 5 miles of Lake Superior with the highest total being 9.5 inches 10 miles northeast of Grand Marais.
