Winds generally gusted 40 to 60 mph. In Plymouth there was a gust to 62 mph at 8:01 AM EST. In Hull there was a gust to 57 mph at 4:58 AM EST. The Plymouth Airport ASOS (KPYM) gusted to 56 mph at 6:38 AM EST. In Scituate at 7:50 AM EST a large tree was down across Route 12 near Matteson Rd and at 8:04 AM EST a tree was down on Route 116 near Plainfield Pike. Also in Scituate at 8:25 AM EST there was a tree down on Ide Rd. In Norwell at 6:28 AM EST a tree was down blocking a driveway on Main St. In Plymouth at 6:45 AM EST a tree was down on wires on Forest Ave. In Duxbury at 7:03 AM EST a tree was down across a road. Also in Duxbury at 8:15 AM EST there was a pine tree down blocking the road on Keene St at Union, a tree and wires down on West St at Merry Ave, a large tree down on Treemont St, and several other trees down on wires per the fire department.
Wider weather episode
Dry and unseasonably mild weather with near record temperatures preceded a period of strong winds late Thursday into Friday. A shortwave trough moving toward the Great Lakes combined with a surface cold front moving through late Thursday brought these winds along with heavy rain.
