Snowfall around 12 inches occurred over the mountains.

A strong arctic airmass settled in over the Billings Forecast Area. At the same time, abundant Pacific moisture overrode this airmass. This resulted in a prolonged period of heavy snow across the northern portions of Wyoming. Snowfall amounts of 6 to 12 inches were common.
