Event narrative

For the month of February, the U.S. Drought Monitor kept all of Zone 18 in severe drought. The zone continued to see much of the same impacts already affecting the region.

Wider weather episode

Interior northern California is still experiencing widespread drought with little change to the ongoing drought conditions as of the end of February. Many local and regional, as well as state-wide restrictions continue. The state-wide drought declaration by governor Gavin Newsom also continues. Mandatory water restrictions are in place on outdoor water use for all Californians with possible fines to violators. February was a very dry month with some areas in Northern California receiving little to no precipitation.
