Snowfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches were reported by multiple NWS COOP Observers across northern Sioux County.
Wider weather episode
A deep upper-level trough brought widespread snow to the western Nebraska Panhandle from the morning of February 21st through the early morning hours on February 22nd. In general, snowfall amounts were fairly light with a more localized area of 2 to 4 inches seen along the Pine Ridge in Dawes and Northern Sioux counties. At the same time, an intense arctic cold front brought near-record low temperatures to the region. While wind chills eased some during the daytime hours, extreme night time wind chills as low as -35 degrees F were common for much of the period from February 21st through February 23rd.
