Dense Fog in Central Sacramento Valley, California

A 2 vehicle accident occurred around 7am on Highway 20 near Sutter, CA. 1 fatality was reported. CHP reported dense fog at site of incident and could be the cause but still to be determined. Nearby visibility observations were as low as 0.24 mile. SR-20 was closed for approximately 90 minutes.

On the mornings of January 15th and 16th, dense fog developed over the central and southern Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valleys. Observation sites within in the area generally reported dense fog with visibility at or less than a quarter of a mile both mornings.
