Following a rapidly moving arctic cold front, an intensely cold arctic airmass settled into the area. As winds of from 10 to 20 mph persisted into the overnight hours of January 18th into the early morning of the 19th, and temperatures dropped from minus 15 to minus 25F, wind chills dropped from minus 35 to minus 50 F.
