Heavy Snow in Russell, Virginia

Heavy Snow March 12, 2022 · Russell, Virginia

What the National Weather Service wrote

Snow amounts between 4 and 6.5 inches were reported across the county.

The wider storm

A low pressure system tracking across the southeastern states brought an anomalously late season heavy snowfall event to the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachian region. This was the most significant widespread March winter event in the region since the '93 Storm of the Century. The combination of high snowfall rates and strong winds led to scattered power outages, in addition to difficult travel.
