Heavy Snow — Scott, Virginia

2022-03-12 · Scott, Virginia

Event narrative

Snow amounts around 4 inches were reported near Fort Blackmore.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system tracking across the southeastern states brought an anomalously late season heavy snowfall event to the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachian region. This was the most significant widespread March winter event in the region since the '93 Storm of the Century. The combination of high snowfall rates and strong winds led to scattered power outages, in addition to difficult travel.
