Event narrative

A wildfire near the intersection of State Road 100 and NW 129th Avenue was around 50 acres in size with no containment when first reported to the FL State Watch office around 4:37 pm. Wider weather episode

An extended dry period and above normal temperatures in February created elevated wildfire conditions heading into March. In addition, a widespread killing freeze in February cured early spring growth vegetation, which added to available fuel loading in early March. Breezy SSE winds and elevated transport winds created high daytime dispersion with minimum humidity near 35%.
