Event narrative

A peak wind gust of 59 MPH was measured by the automated weather station near Monument Valley.

Wider weather episode

An anomalously strong and unseasonably cold Pacific trough progressed inland across the southwestern United States. Strong southwest winds occurred out ahead of the trough and along the cold front across all of eastern Utah. Winds gusted in the 40 to 50 mph range for the valleys. Several areas saw gusts meeting high wind criteria.
