Charleston Police Department reported multiple transport trucks overturned on the Don Holt and Wando River bridges, causing the bridges to be closed. A social media video showed the container from one truck being blown off, onto a police car, and into the Wando River. The strongest winds in this area occurred around 7 am EST. The Weatherflow site at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor measured a 64 mph wind gust at 7:29 am EST. Also, the Charleston International Airport (KCHS) measured a 59 mph wind gust at 7:33 am EST.

Wider weather episode

Strong wind gusts occurred ahead of a strong cold front in the early morning hours, as well as behind the front through the afternoon. The strong wind gusts produced scattered wind damage across southeast South Carolina.
