An intense low pressure system moved slowly across the Northern Plains, producing a prolonged period of strong northwesterly winds across much of the area. The strongest winds developed across portions of Campbell County on the 5th and 6th. Sustained winds of 30 to 45 mph and gusts of 50 to 65 were recorded at times.
