ASOS station KCTB Cut Bank Airport measured multiple gusts exceeding 58 mph, including a gust to 62 mph. The first gust meeting criteria was 11 minutes before the warning was valid.

Wider weather episode

Strong westerly flow aloft resulted resulted in gusty downslope winds in the afternoon Feb 28. The surface pressure gradient strengthened along the Rocky Mountain Front and central Montana, which helped translate the winds aloft down to the surface.
