Drought April 1, 2022 – April 30, 2022 · Kern River Valley, California

What the National Weather Service wrote

The Kern River Valley was classified as being in a extreme drought due to a long term precipitation deficit.

The wider storm

Rainfall was slightly below normal across much of the area in April. This did not improve the long term precipitation deficit from the previous several months. As a result, nearly all of the central California Interior remained in an extreme drought at the end of April, 2022. As of April, 2022, most of the impacted area has received less than 40% of normal precipitation since July 1, 2020.
