Multiple reports of high wind gusts were recorded at mesonet stations - both located in Orient, NY. One measured gust of 68 mph occurred at 400 AM Local Standard Time. The other gust was measured at 61 mph and occurred at 409 AM Local Standard time.

Wider weather episode

The pressure gradient tightened as a cold front approached from the west. This produced strong winds over Southeastern New York early in the morning of February 18, 2022.
