Multiple high wind gusts occurred including a measured wind gust of 62 mph at 628 PM Local Standard Time at a mesonet in Stony Brook (measurement taken at 159 feet above ground), and a measured wind gust of 64 mph at 801 PM Local Standard Time at a mesonet in Eatons Neck (elevation of 71 feet above ground).

Wider weather episode

The pressure gradient tightened as a cold front approached from the west while a low pressure center passed through New England. This produced strong winds over Southeastern New York during the late afternoon to early evening of February 19, 2022.
