At 340 PM Local Standard Time, a measured wind gust of 58 mph was recorded at a mesonet station (Bayville Station) at an elevation of 45 feet above ground level, located at Matinecock Point in Glen Cove, NY.

An area of low pressure over the area during the morning of March 12, 2022 rapidly strengthened as it headed northeast along the Northeast coast. This produced high wind gusts in southeastern New York during the afternoon hours.
