The entire zone remained in Severe(D2) drought through the month of March. The Buckhorn Cooperative Observer reported 0.15 inches of precipitation which was 0.57 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Another month of below normal precipitation, except in the Sacramento Mountains, lead to increasing coverage of Extreme(D3) and some areas up to Exceptional(D4) drought.
