Event narrative

Buoy 41004 measured a peak wind gust of 38 knots at 1140 PM and 1150 PM.

Wider weather episode

Strong deep-layered forcing and modest warm air advection under the left exit region of a 150 kt upper-level jet led to an environment displaying mixed layered convective available potential energy (MLCAPE) between 1500-1800 J/kg, enhanced downdraft CAPE (DCAPE), and upper 60 to lower 70 surface dewpoint temperatures supportive of vigorous thunderstorms during evening hours. Heading into late evening hours, a quasi-liner convective system (QLCS) tracked across South Carolina coastal waters, producing damaging straight-line winds within bowing line segments.
