RAWS mesonet station Montrose (MTRN1) measured maximum wind gust 3 miles west of Montrose at 3:24 PM MDT on the 23rd.
Wider weather episode
Strong storm system for late April resulted in heavy snow and high winds for portions of the Nebraska Panhandle. The initial low passage resulted in a brief period of high winds late on the 22nd near Scottsbluff resulting in structural damages to multiple buildings, including the airport. High winds continued on the 23rd along with heavy snowfall along the Pine Ridge in the northern Panhandle.
