Santa Ana Winds occurred across the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills on March 7th. An observation site at Santiago Peak recorded a peak wind gust of 60 mph at 8:05 PM on March 7th.
Wider weather episode
Surface high pressure moving through the Great Basin combined with low level low pressure over northwest Mexico to create some enhanced northeast winds across Southern California. This event was mainly confined to the mountains, with a few gusts between 60-70 mph occurring over mountain peaks and ridgelines.
