Event narrative

Gusty winds brought down trees on powerlines causing power outage and blocked roads in southwest Portland. All lanes of OR 99W, SW Barbur Blvd, between Capitol Hwy and Hamilton St. were closed. Up to 1400 Portland General Electric customers were affected. Gusty south winds to 40 mph were reported in the surrounding area with gust to 19 mph in the immediate area of the incident. Antecedent rainfall may have contributed to the downed trees as there was 1.66 inches of rain at the Portland Airport in the previous day.

A slow moving front in the region brought heavy rain and breezy conditions to the area.
