A passing shortwave trough brought strong westerly flow aloft and lee side troughing for another round of strong gusty winds along the Rocky Mountain Front and portions of the plains. H700 winds up to 50 kts were transferred to the surface by the surface pressure gradient resulting from the lee side trough.
