High winds peeled back part of a metal roof on a barn in the 8000 block of Glade Valley Road near Ennice. In nearby Barrett, NC, wind equipment measured a gust of 62 mph. Damage values are estimated.

Wider weather episode

Winds increased significantly both in advance and behind a potent cold front that crossed the area the evening of the 30th into the morning of the 31st. Peak wind gusts were measured at 58 mph in Watauga County, and part a metal roof on a barn was peeled back by high winds in Alleghany County.
