Extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted over Wheeler county during the month of April. The cooperative observer at Bartlett 1W reported 1.41 inches of precipitation for the month of April. This was 1.53 inches below the normal of 2.94 inches.

The wider storm

Very dry conditions persisted across western and north central Nebraska in April. Little to no precipitation fell during the first four weeks of April as the bulk of precipitation for the month fell on the 29th and 30th of the month. This led to an expansion of extreme (D3) and severe (D2) drought conditions during the month of April.
