What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

Damage consisted mainly of large trees snapped in half and uprooted. A large metal building was heavily damaged. The tornado was associated with a large mesocyclone that produced a broad area of wind damage that extended from Enon to near Bogalusa. A total of 54 homes received varying degrees of damage.

The wider storm

Widespread heavy rainfall and strong to severe thunderstorms affected much of southeast Louisiana over a two day period. The adverse weather was the result of a series of strong upper level disturbances moving across the lower Mississippi Valley in advance of a strong and slow southward moving cold front.

Began near Enon (30.7422, -90.0178).
