Event narrative

Thompson Pass reported average winds of 34 mph with peak winds of 37 mph. Keystone Canyon reported lower average winds with 20 mph but higher gusts to 40mph. Visibilities were also reduced when looking at webcams in the area.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm moving northward from the North Pacific brought milder air into Southern Alaska resulting in mixed precipitation as well as blowing snow for some of the higher terrain. It also brought dense fog to parts of the Anchorage area. This event occurred through the end of the month and into the start of the new month of February.
