Event narrative

Alaska 511 page reported road conditions in Thompson Pass between mile points 18 to 30 to be difficult. Also, reported blowing and drifting snow with blizzard conditions. The report was taken at approximately 5:56pm.

Wider weather episode

A large, impactful, and far-reaching low pressure system brought blizzard conditions to portions of Southwest and Southcentral Alaska. The system sent precipitation into an Arctic air mass already entrenched over much of the area resulting in the wintry weather.
