Event narrative

A Portage Glacier webcam showed that there were intermittent periods of very low visibility. Portage ASOS recorded visibility as low as three quarter to one mile, from Feb 3 11:06 AM to 11:53 AM.

Wider weather episode

A large, impactful, and far-reaching low pressure system brought blizzard conditions to portions of Southwest and Southcentral Alaska. The system sent precipitation into an Arctic air mass already entrenched over much of the area resulting in the wintry weather.
