Event narrative
Saint Paul (PASN) reported one quarter mile visibility with moderate snow and freezing fog along with northeast winds sustained 28 knots with gusts to 38 knots. One of the forecaster sent an email to one of the people out at the ASOS station in Saint Paul. He mentioned that they have been seeing 30 knot sustained winds and quarter mile visibility and that the blizzard warning was indeed verifying.
Wider weather episode
A storm system brought blizzard conditions to the Pribilof Islands as it tracked northeastward near the Alaska Peninsula. Arctic air was pulled southwestward from Southwest Alaska which helped to set the stage for blizzard conditions when the precipitation met up with the arctic air in place.
