Kenai ASOS reported light freezing rain and trace of ice accumulation at the 8:53 pm ob on the 17th.

Wider weather episode

A large storm system in the North Pacific moved northward towards Southern Alaska and brought a myriad of precipitation types. Moisture overran the Arctic air at the surface that was entrenched across the southern Mainland resulting in the hazardous winter weather.
